We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our past participants who have taken our CME Medical Spanish & Cultural Competency Courses and have offered valuable feedback for our book.

As many of you might know, our book takes you from a beginner, to intermediate to an advanced level, which includes easily explained grammar points, conjugations, medical terms, dialogues, medical questionnaires and exams, as well as key phrases you need to communicate with your Spanish speaking patients.

We have listened to your feedback and are including additional material specific to your specialties.

In our 4th edition you will find supplemental components to our cultural competency section addressing culture bound syndromes and natural healers that are common in the Latino culture.

We are also expanding the information concerning family medicine, emergency medicine, OB/GYN, women’s health, mental health, sports medicine, physical therapy, speech therapy and of course, pandemics, specifically, Covid-19.

We aspire to bridge the language and cultural gap between you and your Spanish speaking patients. You will find tips on how to build rapport with your Latino patients and communicate with them in a culturally sensitive manner, while learning both correct and professional Spanish, as well as layperson’s terms.

There is a great deal of opportunity to practice your Spanish via our exercises sprinkled throughout the book, as well as, by using our corresponding Medical Spanish audio USB.
