La Paz is located approximately 2 - 2½ hours by car from Cabo San Lucas. It is a very peaceful, calm “pueblo”, without a great number of tourists, and where many locals do not speak English.  (Thus…much Spanish practice is involved.) La Paz has an international airport and it would probably be best to check online as to which carrier and location (La Paz or los Cabos) would offer you the best rates.

We at Rios Associates always use the following route:

THE CBX, Cross Border Bridge from San Diego to Tijuana Airport.

There is a shuttle from the San Diego Airport to the CBX bridge.

A 390-foot-long covered indoor bridge connects a service terminal in San Diego with the Tijuana International Airport.  Wheelchairs and free suitcase carts are available.

You no longer have to cross the border on foot and take a taxi.  This bridge connects you directly to the Tijuana airport, without having to go through the city of Tijuana.

A round trip CBX ticket is approximately $38.95-$45.95 USD.

You go directly to check in your bags and find the gate.

Volaris airlines flies direct from Tijuana to La Paz and is a 1hr 50-minute non-stop flight.  It is seamless and stressless!

Immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of La Paz's culture, art, and culinary delights while honinh your medical Spanish proficiency.  In addition to the class, you will have daily homework from the textbook as well as “townwork” where you will have the opportunity to meet and talk to the local population getting directions, acquiring pricing information and availability of medications, products, etc. You will also have the opportunity to observe and/or become involved with the local culture, habits, and medical community.

We will also have the hospital tour arranged one of the afternoons.

In addition, we will have a guest speaker who is a well-known and highly regarded physician in the community who is always happy and eager to share valuable information and answer questions.

You will still have time to enjoy the city in the late afternoons and evenings.
